Two men are facing attempted murder and assault charges after a targeted bear mace attack sent one man to hospital with life threatening injuries last month.
The attack occurred just before 1 a.m. Dec. 14 at Rock the Bottom bar on Broadway Avenue. The bar was hosting a hip-hop show at the time and the owner of the bar told CTV shortly after the incident that a few audience members attacked performers with bear mace.
Police discovered a 33-year-old man in medical distress when they arrived on scene. The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
He is still recovering.
The two men charged in the incident are ages 19 and 24.
The 19-year-old, who was also sent to hospital after the incident, was taken into police custody immediately after his release from treatment. He appeared in provincial court Jan. 3.
The 24-year-old appeared in court Dec. 30, 2013.
Police expect further charges to be laid and investigators have requested warrants for four others in connection with the attack.
