Two people are in custody and residents evacuated from their homes in Buffalo Narrows have been allowed to return following an incident in the northern Saskatchewan community.

RCMP have yet to release many details on the incident, but state the situation has ended peacefully.

The number of homes evacuated or the nature of the incident is still not clear, but the situation prompted at least one warning from RCMP to the public.

Police issued a warning at about 12:45 p.m., advising residents to avoid an area in Buffalo Narrows and to follow police instruction regarding possible evacuations and traffic detours.

“Please do not announce or post on social media police or police vehicle locations or activities,” the media release stated.

An update sent about a half-hour later indicated the situation was over.

Blockades were still in place and police were still in the area.
