A trial has begun for a Saskatchewan woman accused in the death of a foster child.

Eunice Wudrich faces a charge of criminal negligence causing the death of a 22-month-old boy.

The toddler, who cannot be named due to a publication ban, drowned in a bathtub in June 2010. He was among five foster children in Wudrich’s care at the time.

The trial is scheduled for one week at Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon.
