The fire department has released new details on a fire that caused traffic on Idylwild Drive to be blocked for hours.
Emergency crews were called to the blaze, on the 1300 block of Idylwyld, around 5 p.m.
Smoke quickly filled the area as crews took on the flames. The fire was under control before 5:30 p.m.
Idylwyld was blocked in both directions between 33rd Street and 36th Street. Restrictions were lifted at approximately 11:30 p.m.
The fire was deliberately set, the Saskatoon Fire Department wrote in a press release.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire.
Damage is estimated to be $250,000.
