SASKATOON -- As students across the country headed back to class, Canada's chief medical health officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, said parents should expect to see cases of the virus in schools.

This has proved true in the Saskatoon area. Confirmed cases of the illness began emerging by the second week of classes after school resumed on Sept. 8 with many COVID-19 precautions in place.

Here is an interactive map of cases in and around Saskatoon.

 

These are the cases of COVID-19 reported in Saskatoon area schools to date:

Jan. 15: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools  says a single coronavirus case has been confirmed at the following schools École Sister O’Brien School,  Bishop James Mahoney High School, St. Joseph High School, Bethlehem Catholic High School.

Jan. 13: According to Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, someone at Georges Vanier Catholic Fine Arts School and two individuals at École St. Peter School tested positive for coronavirus.

Jan. 11: A new, confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported at Bishop Roborecki School. 

Jan. 10:  A person tested positive for COVID-19 at École Holy Mary Catholic School in Martensville, according to Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.

Dec. 9: The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has declared an outbreak at École Forest Grove School, according to Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS).

Dec. 8:  According to Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS), a single COVID-19 case was confirmed at St. Augustine School, St. Joseph High School and Bishop James Mahoney High School. All classrooms at St. Augustine School will switch to online instruction.

Dec. 6: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools reports a single case of COVID-19 at two of its schools. The school division says it was notified of a case at St. Augustine school and Holy Cross High School over the weekend.

 Dec. 3: Health officials have declared outbreaks at Montgomery and Vincent Massey schools, Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) says.

Dec. 3: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says it learned Wednesday of a positive COVID-19 case at Bethlehem Catholic High School and Holy Cross High School.

Dec. 2: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says one new COVID-19 case was discovered Tuesday at École St. Peter School and Holy Cross High School.

Dec. 1: The Saskatchewan Health Authority declares outbreaks at Aden Bowman Collegiate and Centennial Collegiate.

Dec. 1: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools reports a positive COVID-19 case in an individual at Bethlehem Catholic High School, Bishop James Mahoney High School and Bishop Roborecki School.

Nov. 28: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools reports seven positive COVID-19 cases at four schools:Bishop James Mahoney High School (two cases), Bethlehem Catholic High School (two cases), Ecole Sister O’Brien School (one case) and Holy Cross High School (two cases).

Nov. 27: More than a hundred students at Marion M. Graham Collegiate are self-isolating after potential exposure to COVID-19, according to Saskatoon Public Schools.

Nov. 26: GSCS says it was notified of two positive COVID-19 cases in individuals at Bishop James Mahoney High School. It later disclosed another case at Holy Cross.

Nov. 24: GSCS says a person has tested positive for COVID-19 at St. Joseph High School and Holy Cross High School. It later reports another case at Holy Cross.

Nov. 22: COVID-19 is confirmed at three Prairie Spirit School Division (PSSD) schools: Stobart Community School in Duck Lake, Valley Manor Elementary School in Martensville and South Corman Park School.

Nov. 22: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools reports a case of COVID-19 at École St. Peter School in the city.

Nov. 18: A person tests positive for COVID-19 at École Holy Mary Catholic School in Martensville, Bishop Filevich Ukrainian Bilingual School, École Cardinal Leger School and Bishop Roborecki School.

Nov. 17: Prairie Spirit School Division announces a case of COVID-19 in a person at Venture Heights Elementary School in Martensville.

Nov. 16: Greater Sasaktoon Catholic Schools says a confirmed case of COVID-19 was found in an individual at Holy Family Catholic School, Bishop James Mahoney High School and St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre.

Nov. 15: A single positive case of the virus has been confirmed at four Saskatoon schools including Ecole Lakeview School, Montgomery School, Brunskill School and Marion M. Graham Collegiate. Saskatoon Public Schools has decided to temporarily close wâhkôhtowin School after a second positive case was identified.

Nov. 15: A positive case of COVID-19 has been identified in an individual at Warman Community Middle School on Nov. 14. Contact tracing has begun, according to a letter from Principal Lisa Mason. 

No. 14: COVID-19 cases have been identified at Ecole St. Gerard and St. Frances Cree Billingual School. The Greater Saskatoon Catholic School division says learning at St. Frances is moving online until Nov. 18.

Nov. 10: Classes at Martensville High School move all classes online effective immediately, as the school moves to level four in the Saskatchewan Safe Schools plan.

Nov. 10: After a second COVID-19 case in the same classroom, the Saskatchewan Health Authority declares an outbreak at Holy Family Catholic School.

Nov. 9:  After consulting with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Saskatoon Public Schools makes the decision to close Queen Elizabeth School temporarily as a result of a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Nov. 9: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says it was informed of a COVID-19 case at four schools: St. Frances Cree Billingual School, St. Marguerite, St. Luke and Bishop James Mahoney High School.

Nov. 5: The Prairie Spirit School Division says it has been informed of a COVID-19 case at Walter W. Brown School in Langham.

Nov. 5: Saskatoon Public Schools says on Nov. 4 the SHA reported a single case at Willowgrove School and a single case at Centennial Collegiate.

Nov. 4: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says a person has tested positive for COVID-19 at E.D. Feehan Catholic High School.

Oct. 30: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools reports one positive COVID-19 case at  St. Joseph High School  in Saskatoon.

Oct. 28: One case of COVID-19 is disagnosed at both École St. Peter School and Willowgrove School.

Oct. 27: Two cases of COVID-19 are diagnosed at St. Volodymyr School.

Oct. 26: Prairie Spirit Schools said a positive case was discovered at Lake Vista Public School in Martensville

Oct. 25: Saskatoon Public Schools said two positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Tommy Douglas Collegiate since Oct. 18. SHA declares outbreak there.  Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says a case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at St. Nicholas Catholic School.

Oct. 24: Saskatoon Public Schools said  two people tested positive  for COVID-19 at Marion M. Graham Collegiate and that the SHA will be declaring an outbreak there as a result. One person also tested positive at Centennial Collegiate, the school board said. 

Oct. 22: A person at E.D. Feehan Catholic High School tests positive for COVID-19.

Oct. 21: GSCS says a COVID-19 case was confirmed at St. Joseph High School.

Oct.19: Bedford Road Collegiate confirms a case of COVID-19 in a person at the school.

Oct. 9: SPS says it was notified by the SHA that one individual tested positive for COVID-19 at Holliston School. Also, a person at Caroline Robins School tested postive for COVID-19, according to a note to parents from the school’s principal.

Oct. 17: A case of COVID-19 is diagnosed in a person at Caroline Robins School.

Oct. 15: A case of COVID-19 is confirmed at at Bishop Murray High School.

Oct. 14. A spokesperson for SPS says Evan Hardy Collegiate was contacted by the SHA and notified of an individual who tested positive.

Oct. 13: GSCS temporarily closes Father Vachon School and moves to online learning after someone there tested positive for COVID-19.

Oct. 6: A person at Holy Cross High School was in attendance while they were communicable during the week ending Sept. 25, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says.

Oct. 3: The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) declares an outbreak at Holy Cross High School. GSCS issued a statement Friday night, saying it was informed by the SHA of a fourth positive COVID-19 case at Holy Cross.

Oct. 2: Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) confirms that one person has tested positive for COVID-19 at Walter Murray Collegiate.

Sept. 26: In a release, GSCS says it was contacted by the SHA about a positive COVID-19 case at Holy Cross High School. This is the second positive case that has been reported at that school since it opened on Sept. 8.

Sept. 21: Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) says it was contacted by the Saskatchewan Health Authority about two positive cases of COVID-19. - one at Colette Bourgonje School, the other at James L. Alexander School. A case of COVID-19 is also identified at Valley Manor Elementary School in Martensville, which is part of the Prairie Spirit School Division.

Sept. 16: Cases are found at two more GSCS schools, St. Mark School and Bethlehem Catholic High School.

Sept. 14: GSCS alerts parents about positive cases at two schools, École St. Peter School and St. Joseph High School.

Sept. 13: In a letter to parents, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS) reports that a case of COVID-19 has been discovered at Holy Cross High School.
