A 17-year-old Saskatoon teen says she will never get into a cab alone after what she says happened on her way home over the weekend.

While leaving Folkfest Saturday night, the girl caught a cab – and she claims the driver wanted more than just the fare.

Rylee, who has declined to use her last name here, says she hopped in a Comfort Cabs car at Prairieland Park on Satuday night, heading home after spending time at Folkfest. After the driver asked her her age and discussed her high school, she says the conversation took an ugly turn.

"We were nearing home and he said, 'you're so beautiful, I'm never going to forget your face' and then he proceeded to ask me if he was going to have a good time tonight. I asked him what he meant and he said 'a good time'. I asked him what he meant by that and that's when he offered me $500 dollars," says Rylee.

The stunned teen says she said 'no,' and the driver just upped his offer to $1000.

"I proceeded to say 'no' and then he upped his price to $2000, and reached his hand to me and asked, 'no even hand, just hand' and I said no. It kind of appalled me that he knew my age and was still asking me."

As the cab neared the Tim Horton's on Fairlight Drive, she demanded to be dropped off at the restaurant. She says the driver apologized, but she ran out anyway. She called her mom's boyfriend and says while she waited in the Tim Horton's to be picked up, the cab circled the restaurant and then left.

Dorrie Duncan, Rylee's mom, says it was her idea for her daughter to take the cab that night. "I thought it would be safer than taking the bus. We were sorely mistaken."

Police say they are investigating the incident, but say people shouldn't fear taking a cab --these types of things can happen anywhere. .

"If you have concerns about safety, perhaps avoid travelling by yourself. If you have to, make sure you have a cell phone, make sure you report any suspicious activity," says Alyson Edwards of the Saskatoon Police Service.

CTV Saskatoon contacted Comfort Cabs general manager, who says the driver has been suspended and says they will cooperate with police in their investigation. He says the cab company does not tolerate this type of behavior toward customers and all of their drivers must have a clean criminal record."

Rylee and her mom say whatever the outcome of this ordeal, they know they will never get into a cab alone again.
