A Saskatoon business owner is feeling the weight of this year’s heavy snowfall. The roof of The House Tap and Eatery collapsed around 11:45 a.m. Saturday morning.

When Shawn Evans arrived at work Saturday, he noticed something was wrong with his ceiling. “The suspended ceiling had crashed to the floor and there is another celing above it that was bent down like a ‘V’ with several pipes that were bent significantly,” Evans, the bar owner, said.

“I feared they would burst,” he said.

No one was inside when the ceiling came down, but the strip mall the restaurant belonged to was evacuated as a precaution.

Saskatoon Fire said the mall will be closed until they complete a structural assessment and deem the building safe.
