A man was sent to hospital early Wednesday after being stabbed in the back with a butcher knife.

Saskatoon police said the man suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident, which took place just after 1 a.m. at a home on the 100 block of Avenue O South.

A 34-year-old female suspect was arrested at the scene of the incident. She has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death and three counts of breach of probation, police said in a news release.

Police said the accused and the victim knew each other.
