The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets won’t be hitting the field this year.

The team is not listed on the Western Major Baseball League’s 2015 schedule and, according to the Saskatoon Baseball Council, won’t be competing this year.

The Yellow Jackets have played before sparse crowds at Cairns Field for most of their 12-year history in Saskatoon, and have had numerous ownership groups — including most recent owner Rye Pothakos.

The team rostered a mix of local players and players from the U.S. The last time the squad qualified for playoffs was in 2008.

Pothakos, the squad’s owner, did not respond to calls from CTV.

The Western Major Baseball League, without Saskatoon, now sits at 10 teams, including four in Saskatchewan — Regina, Yorkton, Moose Jaw and Melville.
