Saskatoon got a taste of Hollywood glamour when Life of Pi took home hardware at the Academy Awards, and Tuesday, a set of Saskatoon series writers got another industry not.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television have announced their nominees for the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards, and Saskatoon’s Melanie and Dennis Jackson were nominated for their work on the animated movie, Wapos Bay – Long Goodbyes.

Wapos Bay is aired on APTN in both English and Cree, and has featured several prestigious First Nations voices, including Lorne Cardinal and the late Gordon Tootoosis.

The nomination is for best writing in a children’s or young program or series, and both Melanie and Dennis Jackson will be in attendance at the awards gala in Toronto on Thursday.
