Saskatoon football fans got their first glimpse Tuesday of what the new Gordie Howe Bowl will look like next season.
The Friends of the Bowl Foundation released artist renderings of the upgraded south end zone.
The upgraded bowl will include a 12,000 sq. ft., two-storey clubhouse, new turf and a new scoreboard.
The clubhouse will feature a brand new concession and locker rooms, a therapy room and officials’ room, office space, softball locker rooms, and an outdoor balcony overlooking the football field.
The project is estimated to cost $11-million. The Friends of the Bowl Foundation said while private companies have already expressed interest in covering some of the project's cost, the group is still hoping the city and provincial government will fund a portion of the upgrades.
The field will be home to the Saskatoon Hilltops and Saskatoon Valkyries as well as several high school and minor football teams. Soccer, softball, ultimate Frisbee and rugby teams will also have access to the bowl.
