Prince Albert city council named Jim Toye its new city manager Monday night.

Toye, who has worked as North Battleford’s city manager for the last 13 years, will take over the Prince Albert position January 2. He will replace former city manager Robert Cotterill, who was removed from the job in September after a unanimous vote from city council.

Prince Albert mayor Greg Dionne is happy to welcome Toye to the city.

"What we like about him is that all he has to do when he arrives in January is meet the staff. He knows how to run a city. He knows how we operate. He knows the budget. He knows the provincial and federal government, so we’re just so excited to have him,” said Dionne.

Toye was not present when he was appointed during Monday night’s council meeting.
