Saskatchewan police are still investigating exactly how a vehicle left the road and became submerged in the Souris River early Friday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle incident off Highway 39 north of Weyburn just after 5 a.m. The vehicle had gone off the road and was in the river when crews arrived, RCMP said.

The vehicle’s occupants, a 56-year-old woman from Regina and a 33-year-old man from Weyburn, were located by police a short time later at a local residence. The pair did not require medical attention.

Their names have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
