North Battleford’s Saskatchewan Hospital is one stop closer to being replaced.

With a new hospital set to replace the century-old Saskatchewan Hospital, a group of patients, staff, architects, board members, and provincial officials are in the middle of a two week long planning process. The group is looking for ways to make improvements over the old facility, specifically when it comes to patient care and ways to make the new hospital more welcoming. Friday, the group gave the public their first glimpse of what the new hospital could look like.

For example, they’re increasing the amount of private space per patient, lowering the ratio of patients per washroom, and making all of their therapies accessible to all patients.

The new building will be housed on the same grounds as the standing Saskatchewan Hospital.
