Man treated for critical injuries following ‘serious incident’ in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood

A man is being treated for critical injuries after being assaulted with a “blunt object” in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood, according to paramedics.

Emergency crews responded to a call on Nepean Street, between Bank Street and Kent Street, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

An Ottawa paramedic spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa the call was for an “adult male assaulted with a blunt object.”

The Ottawa Police Service’s Duty Inspector said on social media that officers are investigating a “serious incident.”

“One person is being treated in hospital and one person has been arrested for aggravated assault,” according to police.

“There are no outstanding suspects and no threat to public safety at this time.”

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition. There was no update on his condition at 7 a.m.

“You can expect to see significant police resources in the area for the next several hours,” police say.
