One person is dead following a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Preston Avenue and College Drive late Saturday.

Nine people were taken to hospital, two in critical condition. One of the injured, a 56-year-old woman, died of her injuries while en route to hospital. The other patient originally listed in critical condition was an 18-month-old girl whose condition has since been upgraded to “stable but serious."

Investigators have determined that the operator of a minivan that was traveling southbound on Preston Avenue likely went through a red light and was struck by an eastbound truck. That collision resulted in the van colliding with an SUV that was northbound on Preston Avenue.

Firefighters used rescue tools to gain access to three occupants of one of the vehicles.

The name of the woman who died has not been released.
