As a result of recent media coverage, RCMP investigators have some new leads to follow in the mysterious disappearance of Rob Vicente.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Paul Dawson says the case is of paramount importance for major crimes detectives.

"It's still a very active investigation and a high priority for them."

The current probe has ended, but for three days this week, RCMP officers searched properties near the town of Davidson in hopes of finding some trace of the 25 year-old's body. They were aided by dogs from the Calgary Police Service specially trained to detect human remains.

While police say the searches didn't reveal any physical clues, news stories prompted some people to speak to investgators about the case. RCMP say that information will be followed up -- and new searches will be made if necessary.

Vicente went missing over the Thanksgiving weekend under suspicious circumstances. Late last month, during a tearful news conference with his family, police said they have reason to believe Vicente is dead.

"We would have liked to have found Rob over these past three days, but that doesn't mean that we won't in the future," Dawson said.
