A woman charged with impaired driving causing death after a crash north of Saskatoon killed a family of four is facing new charges.

Catherine Loye McKay, 49, is now charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and four counts of impaired operation over 0.08 causing death, in addition to the four counts of impaired driving causing death she was already facing.

McKay was charged with three counts of impaired driving causing death shortly after the Highway 11 collision early Sunday.

According to RCMP, a family of four was in a car that was struck by an SUV crossing the highway at Wanuskewin Road. Parents Jordan and Chanda Van De Vorst were pronounced dead at the scene. Their two-year-old son, Miguire, died shortly after in hospital.

McKay was hit with the additional count of impaired driving causing death after the couple’s five-year-old daughter, Kamryn, died. RCMP confirmed her death Monday.

A media release sent Wednesday from RCMP confirmed the eight new charges.
