Saskatoon police have laid charges in the death of Brittney Gargol, nearly two years after the 18-year-old was found dead on the outskirts of the city.
A 20-year-old woman is facing one charge each of second-degree murder and causing an indignity to a body in connection to the death, police announced Tuesday.
No other details were provided, but police said she and Gargol were known to each other.
Gargol was found dead March 25, 2015, near Valley Road. Police initially said she was found severely injured and pronounced dead in hospital, but an update Tuesday clarified Gargol was found dead at the scene.
Friends say Gargol was finishing high school and hoped one day to open a hotel. She was a hard worker who befriended everyone, they told CTV.
The accused is set to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court Wednesday.
