A pedestrian escaped with minor injuries after a strange hit-and-run accident Sunday night.

Traffic was stopped for a train that had crossed Central Avenue just before 8 p.m. when a vehicle drove into the crossing arm before it lifted, breaking off the arm which then struck the pedestrian.

The vehicle then left the scene travelling south on Central Avenue before heading west on 112th Street. Police say the vehicle was a light-coloured truck with the driver described as a woman in her 30s with blonde hair.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police.
