The man responsible for a string of taxi robberies in Saskatoon was sentenced to five years in prison Friday.

27-year-old Garrett Strongquill pleaded guilty to six charges of armed robbery and one charge of attempted armed robbery in Saskatoon provincial court Friday morning.

The robberies occurred between early November and early January. Strongquill entered the cabs before showing a knife and stealing cash from the drivers.

He had been known to police prior to his arrest.

No drivers were injured in the incidents.
