Firefighters tackle early-morning garage fire in Saskatoon
Saskatoon fire crews were called to the scene of a garage fire early Friday morning.
Reports of the fire in a rear detached garage in the 300 block of Avenue D South came in around 6:10 a.m., according to a Saskatoon Fire Department news release.
In an email to CTV News, neighbour Shane Armstrong says a neighbour woke him up at 6 a.m., “ringing my doorbell saying fire.”
In a video he shared with CTV News, Armstrong noted the property owner’s truck was gone when he discovered the fire.
Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the structure when they arrived on scene, as crews brought in a hose line to spray down the flames from outside the building.
A crew entered to search, confirming no one was found inside. All occupants were evacuated safely, and no one was injured, the fire department says.
A fire investigator is working to identify the cause and provide an estimate of damages.
