Earlier this year, Stacey Syrenne supported developer Torey Spink because of his plan to re-develop Blackstrap Ski Hill, about 40 kilometres south of Saskatoon.

Now, she tells CTV, she’s hoping to get her money back, but has not been able to reach Spink.

"We've tried emailing him, phoning him and just no response and it’s just really frustrating," she said.

It's been a couple months since Syrenne bought clothing that she says she never received.

Sprink is a B.C man who appeared on TV, radio and social media promoting his dream to rejuvenate Blackstrap Provincial Park.  Spink flew out to meet with the province and told CTV he had millions to spend. He even showed drawings of a proposed new lodge for the ski hill, which has been closed for several years.

Spink sold ski passes and clothing through a Facebook page he updated nearly every day.

Then he suddenly pulled his proposal just before the deadline, saying advisers told him it was just not viable.

Now, his Facebook page is gone, it's too late to get a refund through Paypal, and none of the investors have heard from Torey Spink.

"I know some people who are out $700 or $800," says Justin Higginbotham. He says Spink told him all of the money would be refunded.

"Either Torey does the right thing and he does follow through and refund and give the clothing and everything he promised or everybody gets burned and has a bad taste in their mouth," said Higginbotham.

Some estimate Spink may have received up to $25,000 from local residents. And they worry it's going to affect future development.

"Somebody is going to come in and have a legit business and have a game plan,” said Higginbotham, “and want to get the community excited and everyone is going to be leery and apprehensive about going forward."

CTV has been trying since last week to reach Spink, but so far there has been no response. In the past, he'd respond to inquiries within hours.

"It's just really disappointing” says Syrenne.

She is still hoping Spink will come forward with an explanation. She believes Blackstrap deserves it.
