Police have found a jacket they believe belonged to a university student who has been missing since December 14th. Hamza Alsharief vanished on that day, leaving his wallet, keys, and cellphone in his room.
Police believe the jacket was left on the walkway across the CP Rail Bridge in Saskatoon, and found by a passerby. On Wednesday, police did a Crime Stoppers re-enactment about the missing jacket, and CTV did a news story based on that.
Police announced announced Thursday morning they had recovered the jacket as a result of the coverage.
The Saudi Embassy in Ottawa has been aiding in the search for Alsharief, who is from Saudi Arabia, and was studying chemical engineering at the U of S.
There have been posters put up, and print and television commercials, urging people with information to come forward.
Police do not believe foul play is involved, but call his disappearance troubling. Investigators now have the jacket, and hope it may reveal more information about his disappearance.
