The last of three men suspected in Prince Albert’s first homicide of 2016 has been arrested.

Police say Preston Spencer Bird was taken into custody Friday at a home in the city’s Midtown area.

Bird was wanted for second-degree murder in connection to the Jan. 9 death of Jonathon Lee Cowan.

Cowan, who was 23, was found dead after police received a report that someone had been shot at an apartment on the 1000 block of First Avenue West.

Two other men, Reno Roy Keenatch and Tyler Thomas Pechawis, were arrested in late March in relation to the death. Both were charged with second-degree murder, while Keenatch was also accused of possessing a firearm while prohibited.

Bird was set to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday, according to police.
