On Tuesday just before 5 p.m. RCMP in Meadow Lake were called to a rural area south of Meadow Lake to respond to an ATV accident.

The investigation revealed that the 65-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the ATV was not wearing his seatbelt or wearing a helmet.

The ATV appeared to have taken a sudden turn causing the ATV to go on two wheels and then roll over landing on top of the driver and pinning him.

The Meadow Lake coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene and ruled his death accidental.

The next of kin has been notified, but the name of the deceased is not being released at the request of the family.  He was from Meadow Lake.

The accident remains under investigation.
