A man charged last year in the death of a 63-year-old woman will stand trial.

Kyle Zerr was committed to stand trial after a preliminary hearing this week in Saskatoon’s Court of Queen’s Bench.

The 30-year-old is charged with second-degree murder in connection to a homicide dating back to March 23, 2016.

Police said he was taken into custody at the scene after officers responded to a report of an injured person in a residence on the 3500 block of Balfour Street. The woman later died in hospital.

No other details have been released, but police said Zerr and the woman were known to each other.

A date for the trial has yet to be set.
