A 22-year-old Lloydminster man was pronounced dead at the scene Friday evening after he was struck by a semi on Highway 16 while changing a vehicle’s tire.

RCMP say the collision occurred west of Paynton, Sask.

The man was there for work purposes. He was changing a tire for an abandoned motorist, witnesses told police.

“The RCMP want to remind the public to use caution and slow down when passing vehicles that are parked on the side of the road,” a police media release read.

The man’s name has not yet been released.

Traffic was reduced to one lane as RCMP investigated.

Paynton is located in north-central Saskatchewan between North Battleford and Lloydminster.
