Rounds of snow and frigid windchills

Plummeting temperatures continue, with more snow on the way. CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison brings you the latest forecast.

“Keep your shovel handy. You’re definitely going to need it,“ joked CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

The winter wonderland is going strong, and is set to continue. Light snowfall overnight will be followed with more flakes this morning.

“Snowfall amounts across southern Ontario anywhere from two to six centimeters of snow,” said Atchison. “In London, generally under that six centimeter mark.”

The weather story of the week has been plummeting temperatures, with Middlesex-London Health Unit issuing a cold warning.

We are expecting a bit of a defrost, “Forecast high for your Thursday coming in a bit warmer than it’s been over the past couple of days, but that’s a relative term with the cold air we’ve been experiencing,” admitted Atchison. Temperatures are expected to sit at roughly -5 C on Thursday.

There is also a winter weather travel advisory in effect for southern Bruce County and the Bruce peninsula, as well as Simcoe and Norfolk County.

Thursday: Flurries. Local amount 2 cm. Wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50. High minus 4. Wind chill minus 22 in the morning and minus 10 in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Mainly cloudy. 40 per cent chance of flurries early in the evening. A few flurries beginning in the evening. Local amount 2 cm. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40. Low minus 7. Wind chill near minus 14.

Friday: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 1.

Saturday: Flurries or rain showers. High zero.

Sunday: Flurries or rain showers. High zero.

Monday: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 12.
