Producers in the Prince Albert area have a great opportunity to sell their products locally, with a farmers market being held in the cities downtown twice a week.

"This is out ninth year selling hear" says Murray Gray, who farms near Aylsham. "We've established a name for ourselves, we're known as the Melon People".

Gray produces a variety of fruits and vegetables, including apples, carrots and cucumbers. He says the market has benefits for everyone.

"Selling here gives a person direct contact with with customer, and you build a relationship over the years. People know your name, you know theres, its a personal thing".

The farmers market takes place Wednesday and Saturday mornings in Memorial Square. Business has been very good this year, with hundreds making their way through the various vendors each day.

"You can find some interesting local produce that you can't always find in a store" says Aron McInnes, who enjoys shopping at the market with his family. "It takes a lot to produce this, so its nice to help out the community".

For the producer that shoppers call The Melon Guy, it doesn't get better than selling at Prince Albert's market.

"Prince Albert is very supportive of local farmers markets, and we do very well here".

The market will be held at the cities Memorial Square until Thanksgiving, before moving inside to Parkland Hall.
