Canadian entertainer and Saskatchewan icon Les Pavelick has died.

Better known as “Metro,” Pavelick became famous across the province taking on the Ukrainian character in late 1960’s.

Pavelick recorded comedy albums, and lent the character to radio and television ads as well. One of his biggest hits, 11 Days From Christmas, sold 50,000 copies and earned him a Canadian Gold record.
