Rod Holinaty didn’t waste any time asking his girlfriend to marry him after he found out he had won Lotto-6-49.

“After I checked my tickets, I had a boat to my cabin – where my spouse is staying – and I asked her if she wanted to marry a millionaire, and she accepted,” Holinaty told media in Saskatoon Friday.

Holinaty and his now-fiancée, Verna Tremblay, became Saskatchewan’s newest millionaires this month after winning the $14.2-million lottery.

The two, who have been dating for 15 years, were presented the cheque Friday. They said they plan to celebrate by travelling and sharing some of their winnings with family.

Holinaty bought the ticket at Country North Confectionary in La Ronge.
