The jury in a second-degree murder trial in Prince Albert is struggling to reach a verdict.

Jordan Crowe, 31-years-old,  is on trial in the death of his stepson, three-year-old Dilyn Donald.

Late this morning, the jury sent a note to the judge, saying that they cannot come to a unanimous decision. The judge has asked them to keep trying and so far they are still deliberating. If they cannot reach a verdict, they come to what's called a hung jury. The only option then is a new trial.

The crown prosecutor would have to decide if a new trial is warranted.

Donald died in December of 2007. Crowe has admitted that he pushed the boy, but he denies having anything to do with his death.
