The sound of cash registers was briefly dwarfed by the roar of protesters at the Centre Mall in Saskatoon Thursday night.

Hundreds of supporters of the "Idle No More" movement made their presence felt, voicing opposition to the federal government and its omnibus Bill C-45.

Many First Nations people say the bill weakens treaties and alters land use and resource policies.

Participants in the “flash mob” are also calling on Ottawa to address education and poverty issues.

While the demonstration was a distraction for shoppers it did remain peaceful.
