A home off Highway 60 was completely destroyed by a fire on Sunday afternoon.

Crews were called to the blaze around 1:15 p.m. after reports of a structure fire out of town. According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, the home was fully involved in the fire when crews arrived and had started to collapse on itself. Fire officials say there was natural gas coming from the house and firefighters decided to let the structure burn while the gas burned off.

Crews remained at the scene to ensure the fire didn’t spread. They were able to extinguish the rest of the flames once the natural gas was turned off.

The fire department alongside Warman RCMP determined on scene the fire was not suspicious.

The cause of the flames and a damage estimate are not  yet known, according to the fire department.

Fire officials say gusting winds sped up the burning of the home. Damp conditions helped prevent the fire from spreading, but the muddy driveway made it difficult for the fire trucks to get into the yard.
