A Saskatoon man, incarcerated since November of 2008 for killing his landlord, has been granted statutory release Saturday morning.

Wilfred Hathway plead guilty to manslaughter in 2008, four years after he was arrested. Hathway maintained he was innocent, until changing his plea just prior to sentencing. He was found guilty of the murder of 84-year-old Denver Bruce Crawford, whom Hathway stabbed while intoxicated.

As part of the conditions of his release, Hathway must stay away from drugs and alcohol.
