Seven people were detained by Saskatoon police early Wednesday morning after officers responded to a report of gunshots at a Pleasant Hill neighbourhood home.
Multiple patrol units, heavily armed tactical officers and police dogs were called to the house, on the 300 block of Avenue P South, at about 5 a.m.
Two female suspects had attempted to rob two people at gunpoint inside the residence, police learned. A struggle ensued and a person inside the home was physically assaulted. She suffered minor injuries and the suspects fled, police said in a media release.
A police dog led investigators to a nearby home, where a van was seen fleeing. Police were unable to stop the vehicle, but detained seven people after entering the residence and a detached garage.
Three of the people were arrested, either on warrants or breaching court order charges. The remainder of the seven detainees were released without charges.
A handgun was also seized from the garage, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police have not yet been able to confirm if shots were fired.
