Grey Cup champion quarterback Darian Durant and receiver Geroy Simon will be touching down in Saskatoon May 1 for the 14th annual Dogs’ Breakfast.

The Huskies Football Foundation announced Tuesday that the Saskatchewan Roughrider teammates will be the featured speakers at the University of Saskatchewan Huskies’ annual fundraiser.

“We are thrilled that Darian and Geroy will make their first speaking appearance in Saskatoon, since winning the 101st Grey Cup, at the Dogs’ Breakfast,” said Jason Halyk, chair of the Dogs’ Breakfast, in a media release.

“We expect huge demand for tickets from Rider fans still riding the Grey Cup wave.”

Durant’s 31 passing touchdowns last season were the most in the CFL, well above the next highest quarterback’s 24, and his 4,154 throwing yards were good for third among all CFL quarterbacks.

While Geroy Simon’s year with the Riders was much quieter than his past seasons in B.C. — he totalled just 565 passing yards and three touchdowns last season — he played a huge role in the Riders’ 45-23 Grey Cup win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He caught two of Durant’s three touchdown passes in the game, including Saskatchewan’s opening score.

Former Rider and current TSN football analyst Glen Suitor will join the pair on stage at the Dogs’ Breakfast.

Tickets went on sale Tuesday for the event. The annual fundraiser draws close to 2,000 Huskie fans and is a major scholarship fundraiser for the University of Saskatchewan football team.

Past speakers at the breakfast include CFL all-star Damon Allen and NFL pro-bowlers Rueben Mayes, Jeff Garcia and Warren Moon.
