The Regina International Airport now has a free parking lot for people waiting to pick up passengers.

It's called a cellphone lot, and is common at many airports across the country.  Drivers pull in and wait in their vehicles until receiving a call that their passengers have arrived.

The Regina lot is near the entrance to the airport property. Jim Hunter, with the Regina Airport Authority, says the lot is designed to alleviate congestion at the terminal door.

“We have a capability of putting 24 cars in there, so you pull in there and wait for the call and once you get the call, you pull up to the curb, pick up your passenger and you're on your way."
