Donald Atchison has guided Saskatoon through more than a decade of exceptional economic expansion and population growth. Saskatoon is recognized as one of Canada’s most diverse and balanced regional economies. Don believes leadership and building partnerships matter. His philosophy and cooperative attitude bring together governments, the private sector, not-for-profits and diverse community groups to build a great city. Those partnerships have brought more than half billion dollars of investments into Saskatoon, including Circle Drive South, Parkway Bridge and Traffic Bridge, and Potash Corp Play Land at Kinsmen Park. Don and his wife Mardele raised their five children in Saskatoon. As he says, “If anything teaches consensus building, it’s having five children and 12 grandchildren.”
