The chief of the Corman Park Police Service has been fired.

A news release sent out Tuesday evening by Corman Park's board of police commissioners said Ron Boechler was dismissed for cause under the provincial police act.

Boechler went on a medical leave in February and in April he was put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into circumstances that came to light when he originally left in February, the news release said.

In order to do an investigation into its chief, the board had to ask the Ministry of Justice to appoint an independent police service to do an investigation into Boechler. The Prince Albert Police service was selected for the job in May and began work in June.

The board told Boechler he had to do an interview in the investigation, and through his lawyer, he refused on Sept. 20. No decision has been reached in the investigation, but the board decided to fire Boechler based on his lack of compliance with the investigation.

The board said they won’t comment on Boechler or the investigation until it receives a report from Prince Albert police.
