A convicted drunk driver is released from jail Friday morning. However, Norma Jean Mooswa's statutory release comes with conditions.
Mooswa had twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood when she caused the deaths of four friends in her car and two women in another car in 2004. The incident happened near Cochin, Saskatchewan.
She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, the toughest sentence ever handed out in Saskatchewan for such a crime. According to parole board documents, and after serving two-thirds of her sentence, Mooswa is eligible for release by law.
While in the community, Mooswa must not drink alcohol or be in bars or lounges where alcohol is sold until her sentence expires on December 19, 2014. If she breaks her conditions, she'll be returned to prison.
