Friday night a construction truck hit the underside of the Clarence Avenue overpass on Circle drive because of an improperly secured load.

The heavy-duty truck had a boom that wasn’t secured properly, causing it to rise higher than its regular position. When the truck drove underneath the overpass, the boom hit it, causing concrete to fall onto Circle Drive.

The driver of the truck kept going, but after receiving several calls around 8:00 p.m. about the accident, police caught up with the truck.

Both the overpass and the road underneath it were closed until an inspector from the city determined the damage didn’t compromise the safety of the structure.
