Greg Ottenbreit

Saskatchewan Party – Greg Ottenbreit

Greg Ottenbreit is a long-time resident of Yorkton and says he has always given generously to his community. Born in Regina, Greg has lived in Yorkton for most of his life.

Prior to being elected in 2007, Greg owned and operated Ottenbreit Waste Systems Limited along with his brother Grant.

His extensive involvement with community and volunteer organizations includes: the Yorkton Kinsmen Club, the Bereaved Parents of Yorkton, the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce, the Yorkton Business Improvement District, the Yorkton Flying Club, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, the Yorkton Recycling Task Force, the Waste Advisory Board of Yorkton, and the Waste Advisory Council of Saskatchewan.

Greg married his high school sweetheart, Leone, more than 24 years ago. In 1998, the couple started the "Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer" – an event that encourages volunteers to shave their heads to raise money for cancer research. The charity is named in honour of their son Brayden who died of cancer in 2000 at age five. More than $500,000 has been raised for cancer research and local cancer initiatives. Greg and Leone have two daughters, Katelin and Rayanne.

Greg was first elected as the MLA for Yorkton in the 2007 provincial election.

"Winning that first election in 2007 with my family at my side is one of my proudest moments," Ottenbreit says.

Following the formation of a Saskatchewan Party government, Premier Brad Wall asked Greg to serve as the legislative secretary to the minister of social services, Community Based Organizations Initiative. Greg Was appointed as the legislative secretary to the minister of environment for recycling in 2008. In June 2010, he was appointed as legislative secretary to the premier for vulnerable youth. Greg was also the chair of the caucus' Standing Policy Committee on Human Services and the chair of the Legislature's Standing Committee on Human Services.

Chad Blenkin

NDP – Chad Blenkin

Chad Blenkin was nominated as the NDP candidate in Yorkton on January 27, 2011.

Chad is the president of a management consulting firm based out of Yorkton.

He also has a long history of community involvement including serving as a board member with both the Saskatchewan Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs (SYPE) and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (Saskatchewan Chapter), the communications committee of the Regina Food Bank and the marketing committee for the Yorkton Film Festival.

Chad, his wife Mary-Anne and son Miguel live in the Yorkton constituency.
