Two people were injured on Highway 11 near Dundurn, Sask. Thursday after a truck, travelling the wrong direction, crashed into another truck.

RCMP received an initial call around 8:20 p.m. of a vehicle travelling north in the highway’s southbound lane. A second call, which came in shortly after, reported a collision.

RCMP said in a media release a 63-year-old Blaine Lake man was travelling northbound in a truck in the southbound lane. The vehicle collided with another truck before rolling into the ditch.

The 63-year-old was taken to hospital via STARS air ambulance with serious injuries.

The lone woman in the other vehicle received undetermined injuries, police said. She was from Hanley.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, RCMP said. Road and weather conditions were ideal at the time of the crash.

Police are still investigating.

The highway was closed for several hours after the collision.
