A Calgary woman is charged with murder in the death of her daughter Sunday night near Saskatoon.

Frances Rose Sugar, 50, faces a charge of second-degree murder following an altercation that took place outside of a vehicle on Clarence Avenue South and Victor Road at around 8 p.m. Monday.

Lindey Sugar, 34, suffered an injury to her neck and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Frances Sugar was taken into custody immediately following the incident. She was scheduled to appear Wednesday morning in Saskatoon provincial court.

Saskatoon RCMP investigators spent much of the day Tuesday scouring a field south of Saskatoon for evidence in connection with the case.

Saskatoon police were first on the scene, located about 10 kilometres south of the city, on Monday night and informed RCMP of the incident.
