A woman is facing charges in connection with a fire that destroyed a cabin in northern Saskatchewan.

The fire broke out at the remote cabin near Potato Lake, about 14 kilometres south of La Ronge, late Sunday night.

The cabin was completely destroyed when RCMP and conservation officers arrived at the scene, which is only accessible by boat, the next day.

Mounties later arrested a 28-year-old woman from the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, who witnesses had identified as a possible suspect.

RCMP say the woman’s name won’t be released until charges are formally laid.
