Warm temperatures and precipitation across much of Saskatchewan overnight and into Saturday morning created poor driving conditions across much of the province.

As of 10:15 Saturday morning the Highway Hotline said travel was not recommended in the Saskatoon, Wakaw, Kindersley and Eston areas.

Many other areas throughout the province have icy or slippery sections, and are wet and subject to freezing, including North Battleford, Kindsley, Tisdale, Prince Albert, Meadow Lake, La Ronge, and Buffalo Narrows, the Highway Hotline indicated early Saturday morning.

In Saskatoon, the city released a statement saying crews are working 24/7 applying sand and salt to priority roads. In the release, the city reminded drivers to keep a safe distance from graders and snow plows.

Sasktoon fire crews are reminding motorists to slow down in the city while the roads are icy after a vehicle collided with a pole on McClocklin Road at 10:20 Saturday morning. When crews arrived on the scene, the car was in the ditch and the driver had to use hydraulic tools to remove both doors on the driver side to free the driver. A 57-year-old female was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The southern half of the province had fewer warnings listed. Regina had icy or slippery sections with pavement freezing, similar to conditions in Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Wynyard, and Weyburn.
