A wanted man was hit with additional charges Friday evening following his arrest on an eastern Saskatchewan First Nation.

RCMP were informed Adam Cote, who was wanted on numerous charges including aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and break and enter, was hiding in a residence on the Key First Nation, near Kamsack, Sask.

Kamsack RCMP alongside a Prince Albert RCMP canine unit attended to the residence around 6:30 p.m. Friday. Cote was hiding inside.

He suffered injuries during the arrest and was taken to hospital, police said in a media release. A dog, who RCMP said attacked a police service dog, was also shot and killed.

Cote now faces additional charges of resisting arrest and breach of undertaking.

He was remanded on all charges and is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court Wednesday, July 23.

RCMP did not clarify the extent of Cote’s injuries. He was still in hospital as of Saturday evening.
