The man killed in a confrontation on a rural property near Biggar is being remembered as a loving friend and family member.

Colten Boushie, 22, was killed on Tuesday when he and four other people in a vehicle drove onto a rural property in the Rural Municipality of Glenside.

Police say the people in the vehicle were confronted by the property owners, who were outside. The property owners did not know the people in the vehicle.

A verbal exchange took place, and a gun was fired.

Boushie was shot in the altercation. Emergency crews were called, but he was declared dead at the scene.

According to police, one of the property owners was taken into custody, along with three people – a man, a woman, and a girl - who were inside the vehicle.

Police were still searching for another boy, but say they have now located him.

Gerald Stanley, 54, of Biggar has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of the shooting on the farm.

He made his first court appearance Thursday morning in North Battleford.

The other three people who were arrested have been released without charges.
